| Standing in the night, waiting for the light. It is cold. I look up and I am surrounded by stars. I look down at my feet, but can't tell where my boots stop and the ground begins. I look straight ahead into the darkness for a hint of light. There is none. I close my eyes and let the last remaining blackness of dusk and dawn engulf me. Suddenly, the hovering clouds begin to strobe with light. As it comes around the curve of the mountain it hits me like a wave of salt water stinging my eyes until they adjust. The light stops in front of me and I step into its warmth. As the warmth melts away the many layers of frost that have gathered on my mittens and backpack I begin to relax. My last thoughts before I fall asleep are, "At last the school bus has come, and I don't have to wait for the light." |

| It was the way in which his eyes caught mine That held me in that one moment so long. I knew in that instant that we belonged And we would be together for all time. I remember how he wrote me a rhyme And how he turned that rhyme into a song. He sang to me his lyrics so strong And softly wiped away the tears I cried. But so far away from here doth he live That I begin to miss him more and more. Beautiful music doth he write for me That deeply shows how sensitive he is. Until the day he walks back through my door I'll wait for my love for eternity. |

| There's a spot just beyond the river's bend on the other side of the river from here. I want to live there. I want a cozy cabin with a roof that will sing when the rain hits it. I love the sound of rain. Especially in the evenings. It helps me sleep and I dream more when it rains. Then off in the distance, the thunder rolls like a lover laying next to me in the dark, humming in my ear to put me to sleep. As the thunder rolls over the cabin it shakes the ground. The drip dripping of the rain becomes louder and the beat quickens. Lightning illuminates the black room in which I'm laying. Thunder immediately follows, cracking the sky into a million pieces which all fall and pound against my roof. Then, as suddenly as it began, it ends. All is quiet. The rain has stopped. |

| The sky begins to turn a dark shade of purple as the sun slowly creeps up from behind the mountain. As the Earth revolves silently toward the sun, purple becomes blue, pink, red, orange and then yellow. The sun pours over the rugged edge of the mountain tops and the first rays of sunlight touch the ground. The frost sparkles like a thousand tiny diamonds spread upon the frozen earth at random. Or as if a thousand little pixies flew over during the night and left behind a trail of fairy dust. Or as if all the stars fell from the sky. |

The wind is blowing. As I sit on my bed and stare out the window, the trees sway back and forth like they're trying to get my attention. Sometimes at night when the stars are out and I'm playing my guitar, I'll look out the window and the wind makes the trees look like a swaying crowd of fans holding lighters in the air. But today the sky is gray. Every once in a while the sun breaks through the snow-heavy clouds and dances on the tiny droplets of freshly melted snow and dew on the tips of each needle of the pine trees. Then it ducks away again concluding the glorious light show. A few flakes of snow fall from the sky, barely visible until they're amongst the deep green of the trees. The wind makes them swirl around each other like wolf cubs playing and falling over one another. When they finally touch the ground they lay there helpless as they begin to melt from the warmth of the earth and finally disappear. If you think about it we all are like snowflakes. Each of us are a little different. Up close each snowflake has its own crystal pattern, but from far away you can't tell the difference. And, like snowflakes, we only exist in this world for a certain amount of time. Just long enough to fulfill our purpose. Then we disappear. A single snowflake can't cover the ground. It takes a whole cloud full of them to make just a single layer of ice. And even then, you can't skate on it. |

| I was sitting by the river when it began to rain. The sky was cracking over me. A single drop fell from the heavens and hit the rushing water in front of me. As it flowed away, this strange feeling came over me. I closed my eyes. When I opened them, the top of the water was dancing. All the while, as each drop of hit, it splashed tiny duplicates of itself onto my bare skin. As the last thunder clap rolled off the gently moving clouds, I built up enough courage to cross the river. Stone by stone, thought by thought, I made my way across the rushing white water. When I stepped on the shore, on the other side of the rain storm, I finally felt the sun on my face. |

| Hallelujah! and farewell. My painful past has left me. Sweetly chimes the church bell As I kneel before thee. Candles light this darkened room While I sit and pray. I lay down a rose in full bloom And the silent sound ricochets. I turn around and walk away From the sight of my own coffin. I step into a brand new day, The light of which has softened. I have left one part of my life behind. I shall not forget it, but to the pain of it, forever be blind. |

The music plays, The drum rolls on. These silent days Have come and gone. We've come so far For this one hour, We've made it, par For the course, despite the sweet and sour. The tears flow freely As we say our last goodbyes. What we thought could never be Came true in the blink of an eye. Our future is unknown to us, Unknown to all, but the Stardust. As I'm looking back now, I remember things I've done. I remember the faces of everyone, But can't bring myself to realize how Much we've grown. Yet somehow Each of us, in unison, Have chosen a path to run. A path that Fate has allowed. I never thought this moment would come, But it has and this is it. Our future is unknown to us And we may not know what we will become. But that is what pushes us to an unknown limit, Unknown to all, but the Stardust. |

| The water of the river glistened that morning. The cool morning air was crisp and clean. The aroma of the pine trees filled the air. The sound of birds singing in the trees echoed on and on through the canyon as the river water splashed playfully against my feet. The sky was pure blue and the clouds looked like marshmallows as they floated by above. The trees were green and danced from side to side in the breeze. |

The sun's been down for an hour now. The hands on the clock tell me it's getting late. But no matter how hard I try I can't sleep. So, I throw the covers off and roll over. I grab my flashlight, for although it may still be light outside, my room is in shadows. I look at the clock. "Eleven o'nine." I get up and walk to my open window. "Ah, fresh air!" Above the mountains sits a glowing eye, half asleep from her all night ride. Secretly following her, concealed by the darkness, is her lover; always ready to fight for and protect her. I look back at the clock. "Eleven eleven? Is that all?" I lay back down on the bed and stare at the ceiling. "It must be well over eighty degrees in here!" I let my mind wonder until my eyes begin to droop and finally close. I see the face of a man I know. We say "Hello," and walk down the street, lover's style. Everything is perfect, even my hair, and I know that I have finally drifted into the dream of my dreams. |

| Is it Sagittarius that I see Instead of you watching over me? All this time, have I been deceived? Or, are you just bigger than you seem? I see many modeling themselves after you, As I find myself doing this, too. You truly are the inspiration That heaven granted with your creation. And you will always, as you have been, Be my masculine Orion. |

| Like an autumn dream, the arrow is bound, bound for uncertainty. Gracefully it dodges trunk after trunk until it finds the tallest tree. Smoothly it pierces the red flesh, cracking the core completely in half. Young will considers the two halves carefully, bites into one and nonchalantly throws the other aside. It falls and falls until it meets the top of scientific mind. Three laws were created in a day thanks to this extraordinary fruit. But all the thanks it gets is to be quickly devoured, then tossed off some old fellow's boot. Within an hour to a day, its core was found. Its extracted seed, planted in the ground. Three famous tales I have told thee, three famous tales indeed. But, I bet you couldn't guess the three to be William Tell, Isaac Newton, and Johnny Appleseed. |

I think the rain scares her sometimes. The harder it came down, the closer she snuggled into me and the tighter she pulled my arms around her. Maybe the rain makes her feel alone or reminds her of loneliness. It rained most of the night. There were a couple times the rain raged hard and I could've sworn she was going to pull my arms out of their sockets. So, I held her tighter, matching the strength with which she was pulling on my arms. We sure stayed warm, let me tell you! When the rain let up, so did she. I leaned up on one arm, peeking over her to see if she was still asleep. She rolled over toward me. I laid back down and watched her sleep, gently stroking her hair when it would fall into her face. Her father knocked on the door. She opened her eyes and smiled at me. I smiled back. She slid her arm over and around my neck, pulled me close to her and kissed me. "I love you," she breathed. "I love you, too," I surrendered. We got out of bed and she got dressed. She combed her hair and opened the blinds so the sun sparkled in. She turned around and looked at me, the sun's fire dancing in her hair. She walked over to me and hugged me. We kissed again, delicately savoring the pure honey that flowed between our mouths. She ran her fingers through my hair while looking me over, etching my face into her eyes and mind. "I'll see you tonight," she said. I could tell she was going to miss me until then. We kissed one last time and she walked hesitantly out of the room. "See you tonight," I said. Then I disappeared. |

| Precious, vibrant, full of life. Breath taking beauty enhanced by twilight. Deep reds and oranges mixed by the sun, Projected on clouds of rich butter rum. Electric blues, shocking greens, A phenomenon to us, but to Alaska - routine. Captivated, we watch them glow, These glorious creations of indigo. |

| Potent spices, some strong, some mild, Elaborately spreading, growing wild. The sweet smell of rosemary, the vagueness of thyme. The rose's rare beauty, and blue bells that chime. Forbidden secrets long remembered, Pure Winter's tune chilling the dieing ember. Spring waking the virgin dirt, Her perfumes smothering, yet fragile, burnt. |

| Tiny glittering diamonds, like fairy dust, Cool on my skin in the summer dusk. Reminiscent of twilight's starry air, Or of fireflies tangled in my hair. Like delicate lace, like a dove's lonely coo, Like a kitten's soft purr, it is only true. Complicated simplicity dripping down my wrist, Vanishes and melts into a gently falling mist. |

| Cold and laid to rest In a velvet case. She is now a silent guest With out a voice, without a face. Pale flowers to say goodbye; Tears, for they have lost her. Morn the passing butterfly, Night shades this fuzzy blur. This shrewd slumber, This constant wailing! God pulled her number. And now she is sailing Her diamond gated track. Her long day has finally faded to black. |

Scattered through the mountains across the canyon there lay deep crevices, dark holes, black spaces where I place all my secrets. I thought they would be safe there, locked away from the world. Until one day, while sending my thoughts to their hiding places, one of my secrets strayed. The wind carried my most precious lonesome secret to the ear of a handsome soul. I heard it whisper back to me. My eyes were met with an equally lonesome set of eyes that vanished when I blinked. I turned to walk away and was embraced with arms so strong I felt nothing could harm me. And a kiss so tender, I felt the rocky world melt away. "You are home," he said, looking through my eyes and into my soul. A bird took flight, startling us enough to look away from each other. When I looked back, he was gone. I've never been that near to him after that. But when I'm driving through the mountains I see him racing through the trees, following me. And when I stop to unload my secrets I feel him watching me, listening to me. And every once in a while he'll show himself to me, perched on a boulder in the shadows of the mountain just to let me know he's there. One day, I will return to the fortress of his arms. To the safety of my soulmate. |

| He believed in a gust of wind. A sign it may have been, But why was it sent? To push him forward or to hold him back? It's all in interpretation, what was meant. The mind lies, the heart deceives... You can't always depend on what you believe. Mistakes start innocently And soon grow to cause deep wounds and irreparable injury. He went searching for a sign, But didn't realize he'd already made up his mind. For all he knows that wind could've been Me sending a kiss to him. Now it's hard for me to keep my faith, For I have lost my safest place. He chose another, what a big mistake... So much heartache to heal when he finds his true soulmate. So, silently I wait, alone once again. Because he believed in a gust of wind. |

I love you, my friend As I love the summer wind That swirls the purple dusk, finds what once was lost, And makes the shadows bend. I love you, my friend As I love the singing rain Who's music from The thunder cloud's drum Calms my soul once again. I love you, my friend As I love the starry night sky That twinkles and winks And silently keeps Records of times gone by. I love you, my friend As the sea loves the shore. It grows and it swells, Then says its farewells, And rushes back to its arms once more. |
